Cristina Calero García took office this Friday as the new Councilor of the Canarian Coalition in the Arrecife City Council, replacing María Teresa Lorenzo.

Her party highlights that Calero is "from Arrecife, is 32 years old, has a degree in Biology from the University of Granada, has a Master's Degree in Regional Development from the ULL, is an expert in Political Leadership also from the ULL and is a Vocational Training and Secondary Education teacher."

The new councilor declares herself "in love with her city and her neighborhood", La Vega, for which she launched "a recognized project called Vega Viva", according to CC, "which was an Explorer Entrepreneurship award and managed to reach the United States in 2018."

Organically, she comes from the Nationalist Youth of Lanzarote, a formation to which she still belongs. "She is the party's manager on the island and has also held the Deputy Secretary of Training for CC Lanzarote," the party adds.

The CC candidate for Mayor and spokesperson in the City Council, Echedey Eugenio, has defined Calero as “a very hardworking, committed person, with a lot of enthusiasm and a great vocation for public service”. Likewise, Eugenio has stressed that with the incorporation of the new councilor “the Nationalist Group is strengthened and we are complete again". "Although I would like the eight of us to become the nine councilors that the citizens of Arrecife granted us again,” he added.

"With Cristina's incorporation, we add more value to our team and with her we are going to continue working for Arrecife not only in the months that remain until May 2023, but with our sights and enthusiasm set on what this city should be and what it should become,” added the local secretary, Jacobo Lemes.
