The president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, has already distributed the government areas that were vacant after the break with the Popular Party and has also incorporated a new non-elected councilor: the Arrecife councilor Alfredo Mendoza.
The socialist mayor held, among other things, the first deputy mayoralty in the capital, until he was dismissed by the mayor along with the rest of his colleagues, thus moving to the opposition. Now, he joins the Island Corporation, assuming the areas of Public Works, Planning and Project Coordination Unit - which until last week was held by PP councilor Jacobo Medina - and the Department of Sports.
As for the rest of the areas held by the PP, some will remain in the hands of the president herself and others will pass to two other councilors.
According to La Voz, Marcos Bergaz will add Security and Emergencies, Transportation and Mobility and Accessibility, while María del Carmen Guadalupe will take charge of Employment and New Technologies.
For her part, María Dolores Corujo will personally assume, at least for the moment, the areas of Tourism, Economy, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.
