The Cabildo of Lanzarote has awarded the construction project of 16 warehouses for equipment and an ice warehouse for the fishermen of Puerto Naos.
The vice president and Minister of Public Works of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, explained that the project has been coordinated with the Island Department of Fisheries and that its objective is to "offer professionals in the sector a space for their tools, as well as to keep the fish caught cold."
The councilor has detailed that, after analyzing the current situation of the fishing sector in Arrecife, the "need for spaces for the storage of fishing gear" near the Port of Naos has been detected, as well as the "lack of ice" as a necessary raw material to carry out the activity on a daily basis.
Likewise, the Minister of Fisheries, Samuel Martín, positively values this announcement, which responds to "a historical demand of the fishing sector of the island." "In this way, we show our support to all the fishermen of the island, who will soon be able to enjoy these new facilities."
For this reason, the Cabildo has decided to build a building for fishermen's equipment warehouses. These are made up of different individual units with access from the outside, forming a single elongated building.
The project has an investment of "278,062.99 euros", financed 80% through the FDCAN. The company in charge of carrying out the works will be Transportes y Excavaciones Tiagua, S.L., which will have a period of "three months" to complete the actions from the beginning of the same.
