Last week, the Councilor for Sports of the capital's City Council, José Montelongo, visited the works of what will be the new gym of the Puerto del Arrecife Municipal Sports Park, which is expected to open its doors in January 2010.
The works that have begun are mainly focused on the enclosure and roofing of the outdoor patio on the first floor of the sports complex, an area of more than 400 square meters, which will house the new weight room and which will have an approximate cost of 200,000 euros. The use of wood and other construction materials similar to those used in the rest of the Puerto del Arrecife Municipal Sports Park will mean that the structure of the current building does not undergo changes in its exterior appearance.
Used by 2,500 people a day
With the launch of this new sports facility, which aims to expand the services that users can access, the current gym will become a cardio-fitness room equipped with modern equipment for cardiovascular exercise.
The improvement works in the facilities of the Municipal Swimming Pool sports complex are part of the commitment reached by the company in charge of managing the facilities, Lude Servicios, to expand the services that, until now, it has been offering to citizens.
The Puerto del Arrecife Municipal Sports Park has become a modern sports center with an indoor pool, spa facilities, gym, soccer, tennis, paddle tennis and climbing wall, being used daily by more than 2,500 people.
