Composer Álex Torío presents his latest album in Lanzarote

The musician and composer, Álex Torío presents this Friday, March 23, his latest record, "The Lame Fiancée", with which he has received numerous accolades from music critics, appearing on some of the lists of the best Spanish albums of the year.

The event will be at 10:00 p.m. in the Cine Buñuel of the Centro Insular de Cultura El Almacén. And the tickets cost five euros, a bargain price for a concert that should not be missed, to enjoy the new genius in the national "indie" scene.

The Spanish Tom Waits? That is the reflection that listeners reach when they first approach the songs of the young Álex Torío. But once the first similarities are overcome - broken voice, "drunken" piano, nocturnal sound, plaintive instrumentation, string arrangements - one realizes that Torío's is not just surrendered admiration, but a language of his own that gathers inspiration from Waits, but also from blues, soul, rock, cabaret and jazz. All with a new bohemian and personal air. In fact,

Since its premiere in 2002 with "Last Year's Man", Torío has evolved from a beginning with the most marked references towards creative maturity and the personal style that "The Lame Fiancée" distills. In between, a "Magic Wand Side Effects" (2004) that was a giant step and consolidates his talent.

Throughout this time, Álex, since he started composing songs at the age of 16, has been working outside the large recording industry. Always from independence, after his time in groups like Craab, the author of "Rainy dy at the theme park" decided that it was better to fly solo to unleash his dreams and obsessions. Those obsessions that bring him closer to great names in the most restless popular music such as Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave or the aforementioned Tom Waits.
