Canarian Coalition accuses the Tías City Council of turning the anniversary of Puerto del Carmen into an electoral act

The celebration of the 40th anniversary of Puerto del Carmen is not far from the political tension on the island. Thus, Coalición Canaria has raised its voice to ask the mayor, José Juan Cruz, to not use this celebration with "triumphalism and excessive festivities that the PSOE takes advantage of to photograph the government group for electoral purposes". The nationalist party denounces that the celebrations have not been agreed upon with any political party or social groups.

Pedro Calero, candidate of Coalición Canaria to the City Council of Tías, affirms that the situation of deterioration that the tourist town is experiencing "is unstoppable due to the inactivity of the socialist government group" and assures that the 40th anniversary should be celebrated with "urgent measures that revitalize the economic engine of the municipality". Calero also maintains that "2007 will be the year of Puerto del Carmen if the political change occurs in the City Council and the decline in which the tourist area has entered in recent years is stopped".

The head of the CC list also accuses the Socialist Party of claiming the "Study of the Tourist Center of Puerto del Carmen" as their own and regrets that no measure has yet been initiated of those contemplated in it, affirming that in the hands of the current Government Group it is condemned to "sleep in drawers or to be recovered only for one of those virtual projects that the PSOE likes to present in model or photographs on the eve of elections". Calero recalls that this study included pedestrian zones, boulevards, gardens, beach equipment, etc.

Coalición Canaria also affirms that it has the intention of professionalizing tourism with the creation of a mixed body "where all the economic agents of tourism are represented". In this way, they consider that the City Council would be in a position to respond to the constant changes that occur in this sector.
