CCD presents itself as a new party in San Bartolomé, although with the intention of extending throughout the island

A new party, Democratic Center Coalition (CCD Lanzarote), has been born in San Bartolomé, although it wants to expand throughout the island. This was stated by the leaders of this new formation, who on Monday afternoon offered a training meeting to publicize their project and try to convince those present to create local groups in all the municipalities of Lanzarote.

"We would love to have groups in all the municipalities, but that is not our priority. Our objective is San Bartolomé, which is where this project was born, but we do not rule it out," commented the president of CCD Lanzarote, Ramón Rodríguez.

As an introduction, the secretary of CCD Lanzarote, Agustín Betancort, explained where this political project comes from. "The Democratic Center Coalition in Lanzarote is the only political party that is heir to the values of the center of concord, consensus, dialogue, honesty and loyalty of the Spanish transition," he said.

Betancort detailed that CCD has a national presence and was founded in 2010 by a group of "authentic centrists" led by Lorenzo Olarte Cullén, current honorary president of CCD, who was one of the founders of UCD with Adolfo Suárez and David García Pérez, current president of CCD and mayor of Nules, who was also president of the CDS Youth founded by Adolfo Suárez.

The CCD, according to what he stated, has public positions in most of the autonomous communities of Spain and defines itself "as a centrist, liberal, democratic, reformist, social and progressive political party at the service of citizens, which is committed to democratic regeneration."

"No policies dictated by landowners or large businessmen"

"To make truly integrative politics, not cronyism policies dictated by certain landowners or large businessmen as has been customary on this island between CC, PP and PSOE" is one of the objectives of CCD Lanzarote.

Among its proposals, which were presented by its president, Ramón Rodríguez, is to carry out or request audits in all the administrations in which it enters to govern "regardless of who it affects".

"Recovering our identity through its festivals and giving the young people of each neighborhood the possibility of doing what they truly like through culture and sports" is another of the proposals of CCD Lanzarote, as well as "promoting traditional agriculture by providing spaces for cultivation and creating cooperatives."

The party also aims in all schools in San Bartolomé, and if possible in Lanzarote, to "reward, exalt and grant 100% scholarships to the best grades in Primary and Secondary school." "What we call the Cultural Olympics and we instill merit in study and effort," said the president of the party.
