CC would win the elections to the Island Council with seven councilors and the PP would become the second most voted force

Coalición Canaria (CC) will be the most voted political force in the Cabildo of Lanzarote according to the latest wave of the 'Electoral Perspective in the Canary Islands' survey, prepared by Demométrica exclusively for ACN Press. The list led by the current president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, would obtain 28.4 percent of the votes and obtain seven councilors, of the 23 that make up the island corporation. Results very similar to those of the first wave of April 1 of this same survey and much higher than those obtained in 2007, when it obtained 21.3 percent of the votes and six councilors.

The list of the Popular Party (PP) led by Astrid Pérez would obtain five councilors and 19.3 percent of the votes, three tenths less than in the estimates of the first wave, but in any case greatly improving the results of 2007, when the popular achieved three councilors with 12.5 percent of the votes.

Parallel lives

For its part, the PSC-PSOE and the Party of Independents of Lanzarote (PIL) are close to a technical tie, according to this survey. The list of the socialist Manuela Armas would obtain 18.5 percent of the votes and between four and five councilors. In the first wave of the Demométrica survey, it obtained 19.3 percent of the votes and five councilors. In any case, it would be far from 24.3 percent in 2007, when the PSC obtained six councilors.

The PIL of Fabián Martín would obtain 18.2 percent of the votes and between four and five councilors. A little over a month ago, its voting expectations according to Demométrica were around 20.1 percent of the votes and five councilors. The PIL is far from the 23.2 percent and the six councilors it achieved in 2007.

The fringes

The electoral coalition of the Nationalist Party of Lanzarote (PNL) and Nueva Canarias (NC) would obtain 7.3 percent of the votes and between one and two councilors, with results very similar to those of the first wave that ACN released on April 1. The data almost matches the figures from 2007. Seven percent of votes and two councilors.

Alternativa Ciudadana 25 de Mayo would be around 4.9 percent of the votes and would fight until the last ballot to achieve a councilor, with results very similar to those of a month and a half ago and improving those of 2007, when it obtained 4.3 percent of the votes, and was left without a councilor's seat.

Technical sheet

The survey was prepared by Demométrica Canarias between May 2 and 12 of this year to a total of 2,820 Canarians over 18 years of age with the right to vote and residing in homes with a telephone. The interviews have lasted an average of five minutes.

At a general level, the survey, carried out throughout the Canary Islands, has a margin of error of +/- 1.9 percent, and the choice of respondents has been carried out by the simple random sampling method, that is, the person to be interviewed is chosen by fulfilling crossed quotas of sex and age proportional to the demographic characteristics present in the reference population.

With regard to Lanzarote, 325 (11.5 percent of the total) have been carried out and the margin of error is estimated at +/- 5.9 percent.

Regarding the estimation of the vote, the different electoral alliances in each constituency have been taken into account and the influence of the foreign vote has been considered based on its historical behavior, taking into account that on May 22 this suffrage is only valid in the election to the Parliament of the Canary Islands.
