One of the objectives they have set is to have a consensus candidate. "We want it to be by consensus and approved by the largest number of delegates possible, if possible unanimously," explained CC spokesperson Ángeles García, who assured that they are still deciding who that person could be.

This congress will mean a complete renovation of the party on the Island. This is one of the general approaches of a party that experienced a significant internal crisis throughout 2004 and has been affected by the political crises of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. "Now at the party level we are excited about the celebration of the new congress because it will mean, after all the problems we have had at the party level in Lanzarote and the Canary Islands, the resurgence of the Canarian Coalition without those problems or ties that it has had until now," Ángeles García highlighted.
For this, the organization works from several aspects. Firstly, it carries out actions in the institutions where they have representation. On the other hand, approaching the affiliates and supporters of the formation. Regarding the latter, the CC spokesperson explained that despite all the crises, they maintain the number of members. However, she assures that the main work of the party on this aspect focuses on reactivating those areas of the Island where they have less representation.
Preparations
The congress will be held on October 1 in Arrecife. In addition to the renovation of the party's bodies, the event will decide the lines of action of the Canarian Coalition until 2007, the year of the elections. "Right now it has moved on to the presentations that are prepared that have to do with the challenges of politics until 2007," Ángeles García pointed out. In this way, those aspects that have to do with the economy for Lanzarote, citizen participation or social policies will be addressed "always within the third national congress of the Canarian Coalition based on that," the party spokesperson pointed out.
