Coalición Canaria (CC) Tías denounces that the mayor, José Juan Cruz, "is going to use the Puerto del Carmen Modernization Plan to covertly modify the General Planning Plan" of this municipality in many of the action units it contemplates, "all of them reserved for tourist use."
The spokesperson for CC in the Tías City Council, Amado Vizcaíno, regrets “the interest that José Juan Cruz demonstrates in this way in exclusively benefiting certain tourism entrepreneurs, instead of starting to work on preparing a new General Planning Plan that responds to the needs of all citizens, since the current one dates back to 2005.”
Vizcaíno also criticizes “the audacity that the PSOE shows again when affirming one thing and the opposite at the same time, because while in Tías the mayor gives his approval with this Modernization Plan to the creation of 6,000 new tourist beds and the construction of a new five-star hotel, in the Cabildo of Lanzarote the socialists say that the island is already saturated with tourists, without of course doing anything when María Dolores Corujo governed to prevent it.”
In this context, the nationalist spokesperson in Tías asks the socialists to “instead of dedicating themselves to the creation of new thousands of tourist places and infrastructures, at the same time that they denounce that the island is touristically saturated, start working on the elaboration of a new General Planning Plan that unblocks, among other things, the imperative need for public housing that the municipality has.”
