The Political Council of Coalición Canaria in Lanzarote, meeting on the evening of Thursday, July 5, decided to interrupt the negotiations that were being held with the leaders of Asamblea por Lanzarote, in order to formalize pre-election agreements, on the occasion of the next elections in May 2007.
This decision was agreed upon by the highest governing body of the nationalists in Lanzarote, after listening to the members of the negotiating committee (which has been dissolved today) that, during the last weeks, has held meetings at the highest level with a representation of Asamblea por Lanzarote.
Regarding the causes of this interruption, sources from Coalición Canaria pointed out that, at this moment, the appropriate conditions do not exist to formalize any type of commitment between both political formations, given that the term given by the political council itself to reach agreements (June 30) has passed, without these occurring.
