CC requests the "immediate resignation or immediate dismissal" of Juan Félix Eugenio as director of the CACT

"It is difficult to understand that he is going to take measures against his partner to recover some 600,000 euros", he questioned during the Plenary Session, in which he had requested the appearance of the president

CC calls for the immediate resignation or the immediate dismissal of Juan Félix Eugenio as a CACT counselor

The nationalist political group of the Canarian Coalition-Canarian Nationalist Party in the Cabildo of Lanzarote has requested "the immediate resignation or the immediate dismissal" of Juan Félix Eugenio as managing director of the Tourist Centers after the Plenary held this Wednesday, in which they had requested the appearance of the president to give explanations about the debt that an entity of which Eugenio's partner is a member maintains with the entity.

According to CC, in that appearance it has been "verified" that it was "Juan Félix Eugenio himself who, at the time, personally negotiated on behalf of a company of his family nucleus, both with Ástrid Pérez (then responsible for Tourism and Tourist Centers) and with José Juan Lorenzo (CEO of the CACT when CC assumed direct responsibility for the Centers), the payment plans that he later breached".

In a statement, the party recalls that this left "a debt of 411,000 euros for which there is a judgment ordering the payment and the search for assets for said amount plus the interest generated since the aforementioned judicial order was issued in April 2016 for a total of 570,000 euros".

The president affirms that she will personally take care of claiming the debt

"It is difficult to understand that Juan Félix Eugenio is going to take measures against his partner to recover some 600,000 euros", the councilor of the Canarian Coalition, Samuel Martín, questioned during the Plenary Session, who asked if the councilor "was now going to negotiate with himself, if he was going to self-seize or what measures were going to be taken".

"It must be remembered that it is neither a supplier nor a client in use. Here it is about the fact that between 70 and 80,000 people have entered the Tourist Centers who did pay their entrance fee and did so through the company of the councilor's partner; but that money has neither been deposited in the CACTs' coffers nor do we know where it is today", Martín questioned.

For her part, María Dolores Corujo has defended the intervention of Juan Félix Eugenio, pointing out that his only intervention was as an economic advisor to this and other companies, stressing that he is neither the owner nor a partner. And she has also emphasized that the debt was generated when the company went bankrupt and has referred to a judgment that attributes that bankruptcy to the "disloyalty" of another of the partners. In addition, she has explained that this debt will be claimed and that she will personally take care of it, but CC considers that this response is "inconceivable". "This is unheard of and clear proof that Juan Félix Eugenio cannot continue at the head of the CACT", the CC councilor asserted.

"We hope that this step will be taken as soon as possible"

For this reason, the Canarian Coalition insists that "until this situation is clarified and it can be guaranteed the impartiality, transparency and rigor with which a CEO must exercise all actions within his power to recover public funds and, where appropriate, demand the pertinent responsibilities from the administrators of this company indebted to the CACTs", Eugenio should resign or be dismissed by the president.

"We hope that this step will be taken as soon as possible in the interest of transparency and defense of the public interest that the president so much preaches and so little practices, by dragging the dignity of the institution and its public companies through the mud, in record time, with decisions like this or putting at the head of his cabinet an investigated for corruption, denounced by his own government partner", Samuel Martín stressed.

Although this debt originated under the Presidency of the Cabildo of Pedro San Ginés, CC has once again referred to the beginning of the commercial relationship between the company and the Tourist Centers, when the PSOE governed in the Corporation.
