The Local Committee of the Canarian Coalition of Teguise has accused the new Government Group this Wednesday of carrying out a policy of "paralysis" in the City Council during the first hundred days of government. "They have paralyzed all investment in Costa Teguise, when that area needs now more than ever a project on the table and to provide solutions to businesses and the tourism sector," explained Oswaldo Betancort, president of the Committee.
Mainly, CC has criticized the paralysis of the Investment Plan that was signed by the previous Government Group. A Plan that had almost three million euros to invest in works such as the municipal pool, playgrounds, or paving of some roads. "There were a couple of projects that they have removed and diverted those items to other works that they have considered a priority, such as the lighting of Costa Teguise," Betancort pointed out.
Salary increase
The salary increase of the members of the Government Group has been another of the complaints made by the nationalists. Estimated at 320,000 euros per year increase in relation to the salaries of the previous government group, the nationalists have explained that with that amount "it would be possible to pay a monthly salary of the liquid salary of the municipal staff, build four sports courts, pave two complete towns, collect household waste from the entire municipality in one year, build two nurseries, build a center for the elderly, and increase social, cultural, and sports investment".
Likewise, the criticism of the nationalists has also been directed at the "imbalance in the distribution of areas of the City Council", denouncing that "there is no connection between the areas of the PSOE and those of the PIL", stated Luciano Pérez, a member of the Local Committee of CC in the municipality.
Problems without answers
Luciano Pérez described the government group as "ineffective and inept politicians" because he assured that "they have not even been able to give continuity to issues that were already on the way to being resolved". Thus, from CC they referred to the "uncertainty" of knowing a resolution for the General Urban Planning Plan, in addition to mentioning "problems without answers" such as the situation of the Teleclub of Famara, the corrals of Soo, Los Cocoteros, the cleaning and surveillance service of the beach of Caleta de Famara, or the subsidies to sports clubs.
Among the most controversial works for the Canarian Coalition is the municipal pool, a project that, as Betancort has assured, already had a budget item assigned and was ready to be executed: "Now they have removed that item from the budgets".
The nationalists also criticize the lack of information about the possible route of the Tahíche road, which "is affecting the residents because the traffic is being diverted through the population center", indicated the president of the CC Committee in Teguise. On the other hand, the nationalists have asked the Government Group about the Consortium of the Plan for the Use and Management of the Chinijo Archipelago, which according to Betancort, they have also "paralyzed".
In any case, the Canarian Coalition has offered to "extend a hand" to the Government Group "for any type of management in the municipality that is aimed at benefiting the citizens".
