Coalición Canaria has once again lashed out at the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, for the situation of councilor Juan Manuel Sosa, who attended in their lists to the past elections although within another political formation that later broke that alliance. On the one hand, the party criticizes that the appearance they requested from Sosa in the next plenary session has been rejected "so that he can clarify who pays him and why." On the other hand, it denounces that Corujo is going to submit to the Plenary the "validation" of the expulsion of this councilor from his political group, "when said body already took cognizance of it in the ordinary session of May 14, and no one opposed it."
For CC, this is "an act of arrogance and total contempt for the nationalist formation", since it considers that the president "has interfered in a tortuous way in the internal functioning of the organization."
“Not only has she flatly refused to allow Sosa to appear before the plenary session of the first institution, to clarify once and for all who pays him and why, as we have requested in writing and formally registered as part of the initiatives to which we have the right to present, but also, she has decided that it is the plenary who validates an internal decision of our group and our formation”, the nationalists emphasize.
As they explain, the president's decision was announced this Wednesday during the celebration of the Board of Spokespersons prior to the plenary session that will take place next Monday. “We would like them to explain the reasons why the president is hiding Sosa and why they have decided to withdraw our request for appearance because they consider it a personal matter”, CC-PNC points out.
In a new statement, the party insists that Corujo "not only does not give the explanations that she promised a month ago that she would give in three days, but she also does not allow the councilor to do so and, in addition, she has the little decency and little political respect to interfere in the decisions and internal functioning of a political formation that has nothing to do with her."
“That the plenary has to validate an internal decision of a political group is something totally unheard of”, the nationalists have highlighted, who affirm that "they trust that all these movements do not respond to the president's intention to release Sosa now at the expense of the Cabildo." “If according to them it is legal that all this time he has been released by Health for being a member of the government, then let it continue like this, right?”, they ask.
In addition, they reiterate that Sosa himself publicly stated that CC should have asked him directly about his situation, but however it has been rejected that he appear in the Plenary and continues without giving explanations. "It is just one more example of the scandalous collusion to shield Dolores Corujo in the Presidency of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, skipping the Law", CC maintains.
