CC criticizes the City Council for its absence at the inauguration of the Housing Office

Coalición Canaria (CC) in the Arrecife City Council does not understand why no representative of the capital's Corporation was present at the inauguration of the Housing Office of the Government of the Canary Islands, which took place this Wednesday, July 16, and was attended by, among many other personalities from island politics, the Canarian president, Paulino Rivero.

"The truth is that we don't understand anything at all," says the nationalist spokesperson, Luis Morales. According to Morales, the event was attended by, in addition to the president, the Minister of Social Welfare, Youth and Housing, Inés Rojas, the director of the Canarian Housing Institute, the mayors of Tías and Yaiza, councilors of the Cabildo and councilors of San Bartolomé and Tinajo, but no representative of the Arrecife City Council, the municipality that hosts the facilities.

"Neither the mayor who is traveling at the Expo in Zaragoza, nor the acting mayor Ubaldo Becerra, nor the councilor of Housing have been present at the inauguration ceremony," Morales said, and, for him, this translates into "the little interest of this governing group on permanent vacation." In this sense, they criticize the "lack of concern" they have for the housing problem and for raising the multiple needs, in terms of housing, that this municipality has."

For Coalición Canaria, the "inactivity" of the governing group reveals the lack of proposals or initiatives to improve the quality of life of the residents of Arrecife "at a time when the crisis affects us all, especially young people who want to access their first home, while PIL-PSOE is unable to put land on the table to invest the more than three million euros that the Government has available for the construction of housing in our municipality, which is the capital of an Island," said Luis Morales.
