CC assures that the Arrecife City Council "will be penalized by the Fecam"

The party, which left the government group last December, claims that it is the only city council "that has not yet sent the budget closure to the Court of Auditors"

The Canary Coalition has stated this Tuesday that the Arrecife City Council "has lost the money corresponding to the distribution of funds" from the Canary Federation of Municipalities (FECAM) and that it will also "be heavily penalized for it." According to the nationalists, who held the Finance area until last December, when they left the government group, the reason is that the City Council "has not sent the budget closure to the Court of Auditors as of today" in order to receive those funds.

According to the municipal spokesperson for CC-PNC, Samuel Martín, "the deadline to submit the documentation requested by FECAM ended on December 31, 2017," and "the City Council governed in minority by the Socialist Party and the Party of Independents of Lanzarote in connivance with Citizens" is "the only municipal institution" in the Canary Islands that has not complied with that requirement.

"This is one more example and a consequence of the neglect of a government group and a mayor who continues without convening the ordinary plenary sessions that by law must be held in the institutions," criticizes CC, which adds that finally this Friday the session corresponding to the month of February will be held. "A session that should have been held today, Tuesday, according to what was agreed, but it seems that in this city council agreements are not valid, but what the mayor likes," he questions.

Martín recalls that the last plenary session was held on November 16. "With this attitude, not only are we being denied the debate and institutional participation to the opposition groups, but a serious damage is being generated to the city of Arrecife and its citizens," he says.
