CC asks the Arrecife City Council to cede land to the Government of the Canary Islands for public housing

Coalición Canaria has presented a motion in the Arrecife City Council asking the Council to transfer land to the Government of the Canary Islands for the construction of public housing in the municipality. "It is a priority to contribute to alleviating the shortage of apartments in our city, which no longer only affects people with few resources," the party points out.

Therefore, CC is committed to "making available to the Canarian Housing Institute a plot of land in the Maneje neighborhood of about 15,275 square meters," where it maintains that "a maximum of 400 homes could be built according to current planning."

"The fact that it is a priority for us is demonstrated by the fact that the Canary Islands budgets for 2018 already include an item for Lanzarote of three million euros," said the spokesperson for CC – PNC in Arrecife, Samuel Martín, who until last December was part of the government group of the capital and was in charge of the Urban Planning area. In this regard, the party states that Martín had already "begun the procedures for the transfer of said land to the Canarian Housing Institute."

In addition, CC maintains that the Minister of the Government of the Canary Islands, Cristina Valido, announced in December that the works could begin at the end of 2018, so she points out that "the transfer of the land needs to be carried out as soon as possible." "Only then will it be possible to commission the drafting of the project and request the report of administrative collaboration prior to the execution of the works," Martín declared.
