Businessman Francisco Armas Arrested

Businessman Francisco Armas has been arrested this Monday as part of the third phase of Operation "Unión", in which seven other arrests have taken place.

His arrest, which has already been confirmed by the Las Palmas Prosecutor's Office, occurred after 10 a.m., when he was in the Arrecife Courts. Armas had gone to testify in the framework of another case that is being followed in the Court of Instruction Number 2 of Arrecife, for the alleged plot for the granting of illegal licenses in Playa Blanca, in which he is also charged with an alleged crime of bribery.

Shortly after entering to testify, he left the room again and was arrested and escorted by two agents, this time by order of the head of Court Number 5, César Romero Pamparacuatro.

Armas was president of the hotel employers' association Asolan and, among other things, is president and CEO of the construction company Horinsa.

Eight detainees

In total, eight people have been arrested this Monday. In addition to the name of Francisco Armas, there are those of Isabel Déniz, Jacinto Álvarez, Miguel Ángel Leal, Julio Romero, Manuel Spínola and Rafael Arrocha, as well as another businessman who would have been arrested in Madrid.
