The deputy of the Canarian Nationalist Group, Oswaldo Betancort, has reproached the State Government for its "lack of sensitivity of the State towards the self-employed". "Here in the Canary Islands we do not see any commitment beyond supporting everything that the Sánchez Government promotes," he points out.
"The rights of the self-employed are once again at risk of reduction in the negotiations that are currently taking place, and we have not seen the Minister of Employment of the autonomous Government raise her voice to defend a sector that has been suffering from the lack of attention from governments, with disastrous effects on their economies since the pandemic," the nationalist deputy points out.
Betancort joked, highlighting that the self-employed "do not have iron health." "We must improve their contribution base, increase it, not decrease it, because in case of illness or retirement, the distance with employed workers is abysmal," he lamented.
"Socialist governments boast a lot about being on the side of the workers, but in the Canary Islands, during the pandemic they were not, delaying aid beyond what was understandable, and for those who finally received it, they now have to assume the 'stick' from the Treasury", he concluded.
