Meeting between Oswaldo Betancort and the Italian Ambassador to Spain.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has held a meeting with the ambassador of Italy in Spain, Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi, as part of his first official visit to the island. During the meeting, issues of common interest were discussed, with special emphasis on strengthening cultural, social and economic cooperation between Lanzarote and Italy.

The president of the Cabildo expressed his gratitude for the ambassador's visit and highlighted the significant contribution of the Italian community to the cultural and economic development of Lanzarote. For his part, Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi reaffirmed the commitment of the Italian institutions to their fellow citizens in the Canary Islands, underlining the importance of keeping alive the cultural roots and the feeling of belonging to their homeland.

The senator for the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, Pedro San Ginés, was also present at the meeting. Oswaldo Betancort stressed the relevance of this visit as an opportunity to continue strengthening relations between Lanzarote and Italy, promoting joint projects and strengthening ties. In this sense, the president stated that "it is essential to promote dialogue and cooperation between cultures, thus reaffirming the commitment of this Cabildo to the diversity and integration of foreign communities that choose Lanzarote as their home."

It should be noted that Italy leads the growth of new foreign residents from countries of the European Union, and many of them choose Arrecife as their new home. This active presence of Italians in Lanzarote society contributes to the cultural and social enrichment of the island.

Likewise, the number of Italian tourists visiting Lanzarote has also grown significantly in recent years, consolidating Italy as one of the key markets for the island. This increase reflects not only the attractiveness of Lanzarote as a tourist destination, but also the growing link between the island and the Italian community.
