The Teguise City Council, through the Department of Traffic directed by Ginés González Suárez, in collaboration with the Department of Roads and Works, informs of the execution of improvement works on the road of Avenida Islas Canarias, in Costa Teguise, on Wednesday, June 18, starting at 11:00 p.m.
Affected area
The scope of action will focus on the pedestrian crossing located near the pharmacy, next to Pueblo Marinero. During the intervention, that section will remain completely closed to traffic.
Provisional detour
To continue circulating on the road and while the works last, alternative access is recommended via Avenida del Mar, with entry through Los Dragos street, Las Acacias street and Las Adelfas street.
The City Council asks residents, visitors and businesses to avoid access through Avenida del Jablillo during the indicated night since at the indicated height, traffic will be totally prohibited.
The objective of the works is to improve road safety and pedestrian accessibility in one of the points with the highest traffic of both vehicles and people, installing the first intelligent pedestrian crossing on the island, illuminating it and the indicative sign of the pedestrian crossing when the system detects that a pedestrian is going to cross the road.
The Teguise City Council apologizes for the inconvenience these works may cause and appreciates the understanding and collaboration of all citizens. The intervention is scheduled at night precisely to minimize the impact on traffic and commercial activity in the area.
