Astrid Pérez, candidate in 'The Top 100 Women Leaders' of Magas magazine

She has been selected in the category of politicians, for being the second woman to preside over the Parliament of the Canary Islands in the autonomous history.

The magazine 'Magas' of the newspaper El Español has chosen the President of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Astrid Pérez, as a candidate in the 'Politicians' category of 'The Top 100 Women Leaders'. The publication is making a list in which users can vote for their favorite candidates, among the various categories that the magazine has selected to recognize the talent of women in Spain, make it visible and give it the position it deserves.

Ten categories in which academics and researchers, politicians, senior executives, businesswomen, journalists and managers, among others, stand out. In the case of political leaders, among the 76 candidates, Pérez can be chosen among prominent politicians from our country such as Yolanda Díaz, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, Rocío Monasterio, Isabel Rodríguez, among others.

The main reason given by the magazine for the election is Astrid Pérez's institutional political activity of more than 20 years. In addition, it stands out for being the second woman to preside over the Parliament of the Canary Islands in the autonomous history.

Magas collects some of Astrid Pérez's outstanding speeches during the inauguration of the legislature. She highlighted the "need" for the citizens of the islands to "know and get involved" in parliamentary activity and called on all groups to contribute to the socio-economic development of the islands.

She also emphasized the need to "broaden the horizons of young people" and the new knowledge society; "promote rural development and generational change in the countryside and at sea"; facilitate personal, work and family reconciliation. Wishing to achieve a Canary Islands "increasingly green and digital", which promotes effective and efficient public services and reinforces the presence and proximity of administrations throughout its territory, without distinction or privileges.

The current president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands already has 103 votes in the ranking created by Magas magazine and the newspaper El Español. A recognition that for her is "to be grateful for": "Being among those selected is already a prize for me", she highlighted on her Instagram account.
