Asphalting of two streets in Yaiza and Uga underway

The improvement project of two road infrastructures located in the municipality of Yaiza is progressing "satisfactorily", according to the first deputy mayor, José Antonio Rodríguez, and the head of transport, Roque Herrera, who inspected the work carried out in Uga this Monday.

The works, with an investment of 50,000 euros, consist of paving 170 meters in length of La Polca street in Uga, whose road is 7.50 meters wide, and reinforcing the pavement and asphalting Montaña Almurcia street in Yaiza, in which 300 meters of extension by 7.40 meters wide will be undertaken. This assignment, which is part of the Island Cooperation Plan for Municipal Competence Works and Services and Roads, is co-financed by the Ministry of Public Administrations, the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Yaiza City Council.

La Polca street was a dirt road, without any pavement, with a layer of loose gravel on the surface that prevented dust from rising, in such a way that the initiative in execution "improves its appearance and facilitates road traffic", according to the Consistory.

For its part, Montaña Almurcia street presents "a quite deteriorated surface, with visible cracks and potholes, a reality that confirms the need to intervene." "The elevation of existing manhole covers to the new pavement level and the vertical and horizontal signage, in both cases, complete the purpose," they add.

The repairs are carried out on public roads of municipal ownership and expropriations or restitution of services or easements are not necessary, "since there is absolute availability of the land." About eight operators are already working in Uga and will continue this week in Yaiza.
