The Arrecife City Council will receive 6,382,658 euros thanks to the new State Fund for Employment and Local Sustainability, approved last Friday by the Council of Ministers. This plan is part of the Government's set of measures aimed at boosting economic recovery and job creation, which aims to channel the Spanish economic model towards a pattern of greater sustainability.
This second Plan E will allow the capital's City Council to make immediate investments in municipal sustainable development projects, which could begin to be carried out from January 1st, according to a statement issued by the City Council.
The Finance Councilor, Víctor Betancort, highlighted "the importance of a plan that will contribute to modernizing the municipal administration in the technological section", because it foresees that 20 percent of the investment can be allocated to this matter.
Betancort pointed out that after the experience of the first Plan E, which allowed "the creation of more than 400 jobs in the municipality", this second State Local Investment Fund affects the need for job creation, "betting on economic and social innovation".
Presentation of the projects
The Head of Finance has assured that the Arrecife City Council is already working with the technicians of the different departments to outline the projects that will be presented to the Ministry of Territorial Policy before December 31st. "This is an important task due to the volume of contracting involved in an investment of more than 6 million euros," explained Betancort, who has advanced some of the projects that are intended to be launched.
Among them, he highlighted the digitization of the Municipal Archive to be able to access it through the web www.arrecife.es, the expansion of the Avanza Project for electronic administration, the creation of a large civic center in the Youth Center and the improvement of the neighborhoods on the periphery of the city.
