Arrecife will inaugurate next year the two new passenger terminals for the reception of cruise passengers. The company awarded the contract for the management of these terminals, Global Ports Canary Islands, has announced that these works are underway since this Monday. The company is simultaneously executing these buildings in the ports of Arrecife, Puerto del Rosario and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, is pleased that the capital of Lanzarote will have these new facilities in autumn 2024, which will "boost the city in the tourist cruise circuits through the Canary Islands, by having better facilities"

For the mayor, this investment by the company that won the tender, joins others contributed by the Port Authority of Las Palmas for the "construction of the dike", as an extension of the current cruise pier in the area of Naos. De León has remarked that currently "works are underway for more than 15 million euros in the port area of Arrecife".

The company that won the tender for the exploitation and management of passenger terminals in the state ports of the province of Las Palmas, has started in Arrecife the construction of two terminals, one in the Naos dock (next to Marina Lanzarote) and another in Los Mármoles.

The first, in the Naos dock, will be distributed in a single floor of 1,106 square meters, and will provide services for transit and home port operations, focused on operational efficiency and improved security. The Los Mármoles terminal will be a modular facility of 556 square meters, will have the capacity to serve up to three ships simultaneously and will be accompanied by another satellite cruise building of 426 square meters that will offer auxiliary services to both passengers and crew.

Arrecife is the fastest growing port in the Canary Islands in the current cruise season, according to data from the Port Authority of Las Palmas. During this month of November, the capital of Lanzarote has scheduled the arrival of 42 cruise ships, registering a new record with pre-Covid data.
