The Arrecife City Council, through the Department of Tourism and Commerce, promotes this Thursday the 14th, a guided tour to learn about the maritime and coastal history of the capital of Lanzarote.

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has highlighted that, during this week, as preliminary events to the celebration of Canary Islands Day by the City Council, the city will host multiple cultural activities, exhibitions, concerts, and gastronomic events within the Fair of Traditions, which starts this Wednesday, the 13th and runs until Saturday, May 16th.

La Recova, the renovated Plaza de Las Palmas (next to the San Ginés church) and the Parque José Ramírez Cerdá, will be the venue for all activities included in the Fair of Traditions of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, where the Arrecife City Council collaborates closely with the first insular institution for its development.

Within the broad programming, this first edition of the fair proposes activities designed for all audiences, with activities linked to crafts, traditional and popular music, gastronomy, cultural expressions of Atlantic roots, trades, workshops, exhibitions, and participatory meetings. Arrecife, the mayor emphasizes, "transforms into an open space for coexistence in which tradition dialogues with the multicultural reality of Arrecife and the entire island of Lanzarote".

Within the programming, and by the impulse of the Municipal Government, led by Mayor Yonathan de León, the patrimonial tour “Arrecife, Fishing City” is offered to residents and visitors, an activity that will contribute to discovering for its attendees the close historical relationship of our conejera capital, where the term “coastal” was coined with the sea, fishing, salt, and traditional trade.

The councilwoman for Commerce and Tourism, and spokesperson for the PP, Eli Merino, whose Department sponsors this activity, highlights that "people who sign up will have an opportunity, in the events prior to the celebration of Canary Islands Day, to get to know and value our roots, touring emblematic spaces of the coast and the historic center of the city within the Atlantic Roots fair".

This tour, which includes travel by bus in one of its sections, will last about two hours to cover a route of about 4 kilometers. The departure will be at 6:00 PM. There is a capacity of 25 people, with prior registration on this website where all the programming is disseminated: https://raicesatlanticas.com/

Atlantic Roots, Fair of Traditions of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, is organized by Preventos Media and has the collaboration and sponsorship of Government of the Canary Islands, Cabildo of Lanzarote, Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism of Lanzarote, SPEL–Turismo Lanzarote, Canary Institute of Cultural Development, City Council of Arrecife and other entities.
