The Department of Parks and Gardens of the Arrecife City Council has proceeded to clean the park located next to the La Vega Sociocultural Center, but for this it has needed the Local Police. And, according to the Consistory, for a month no operator had been able to clean the area "because a certain group of people prevented it."
"There had been some discussion, some shouting," the Councilor for Parks and Gardens, Tomás Fajardo, explained to La Voz, who also pointed out that "it is an area of trapricheo" and that, given this, for the safety of the gardeners, it was decided that they should go together with the Local Police.
According to the City Council, "in recent years the deterioration of the park has been increasing", with "broken swings, deteriorated benches and garbage thrown in every corner". "It was the usual image when passing through the area," they say.
Thus, and after neighborhood complaints about its condition, the Department of Parks and Gardens decided to "take action" and, after several cleaning attempts, has managed to put "an end to the problem" although, for this, the presence of a dozen cleaning technicians and the Local Police has been necessary.
Daily police presence "to guarantee safety and cleanliness"
The Councilor for Parks and Gardens, Tomás Fajardo, has been "satisfied" for having been able to clean the area "after several weeks of insisting". "Every week operators came to keep the place clean, but there are people who came every day and did not let them do their job. For this reason, today we have tried again with the presence of the Police, so that the cleaning staff can do their job without anyone bothering them," he said.
Likewise, the City Council indicates that, during all days of the week, the different units of the Police will pass several times through the park "to guarantee the safety and cleanliness of the enclosure" and that "children, families and people in general can enjoy its facilities without the risk of suffering any type of altercation"
