The government group of the Arrecife City Council has convened "for the first time in municipal history" a contest for the integral maintenance of all public schools in the capital. The investment amounts to 642,000 euros, including the IGIC, for one year, although the tender foresees that the value of the contract could amount to 2,400,000 euros, with three possible annual extensions until 2024.

The Public Sector Procurement Platform has inserted this tender from the Arrecife City Council since February 12, 2021. Companies have until March 16 to submit their technical and economic proposals

The Councilor for Education, and also head of the Area of Employment and Local Development, the popular councilor Saro González, has highlighted that one of the assessments that will be taken into consideration to award this contract is linked to the proposals made by the contracting companies to improve accessibility in the accesses and interiors of these schools, which in many of their constructions are already over 40 years old on average.

The tender has been called for three lots, divided by the location of the schools by the different neighborhoods of Arrecife. The first lot covers the CEIP Titerroy schools, with the Titerroy Infantil, the CEIP Benito Méndez Tarajano, and the Adult Center.

Lot number two is intended for the integral maintenance work of the Ceip Capellanía del Yágabo, Ceip La Destilla, CEIP Zerolo and CEIP Nieves Toledo schools; while the third lot will cover the reforms and maintenance of the public schools in the neighborhoods of Tinasoria, Altavista and Argana, with the CEIP Los Geranios, CEIP Argana Alta, CEO Argana and CEIP Adolfo Topham.

From the Arrecide City Council it is highlighted that, since the taking of possession of the government group led by the mayor Ástrid Pérez in June 2019, "several and important improvements" have already been made in the schools of Arrecife, including the CEIP Antonio Zerolo, Argana Alta and Titerrory, with works of new exterior carpentry, exterior enclosures, and alarm installations.
