Arrecife provisionally approves subsidies for 14 cultural projects

The Department of Culture of the Arrecife City Council has published the resolution of subsidies for cultural projects and activities, whose execution period ends on April 30, 2015. Pending confirmation after the period of allegations, the City Council has granted a subsidy to 14 different projects, which in total amount to about 75,000 euros, out of the 80,000 allocated in the municipal budget of 2014 for this issue.

This publication, of a provisional nature, can be consulted on the bulletin board of the Arrecife City Council during public opening hours, as well as on the municipal website, from this Tuesday until February 6. During that period, denied applications may submit allegations in order to correct defects.

A total of 14 projects presented by different associations, groups and cultural entities have obtained provisional approval of the call made by the Department of Culture, whose assessment and scoring has corresponded to a commission constituted by the councilor of the area, Eva de Anta, and by four municipal technicians designated for this purpose. The total amount of the projects submitted amounts to almost 75,000 euros.

Among the projects submitted are those of a musical nature, by the Los Campesinos Folkloric Group, the Lanzarote Classical Orchestra and the Vulcania and San Ginés polyphonic choirs, which propose music circuits in the socio-cultural centers of the city, ranging from choral singing to folklore, through classical music. The Musical Association "Ímtima", for its part, will execute a project consisting of the dissemination of hard-rock among the citizens.

Other proposals that have obtained municipal subsidy are those of the Law and Justice Association, whose intention is to work with inmates of the Tahiche Penitentiary Center, or the folklore workshop organized by the Guanareme Cultural Association of Maneje. The Association for Women Mararía proposes a painting contest in homage to the recently deceased artist Elisa Betancort, while the Association El Parto Cerebral opts to create a multifunctional exhibition space in the Socio-cultural Center of La Vega.

For its part, the Salinas-Autindara Association will carry out various cultural activities in the Las Salinas neighborhood, while the Princesa Atenya Batucada organizes a batucada and percussion workshop in different neighborhoods of Arrecife. The Academy of Sciences and Engineering of Lanzarote has obtained a subsidy for its 'blascabrerianas' conferences, while the Colombian-Lanzarote association Asoincol will launch a traditional Colombian culture project. As a novelty, on this occasion a group formed by ten members has obtained a subsidy, who will develop the project "What the sea hides".
