Arrecife pays sports subsidies amounting to 450,000 euros

The mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, and the Councilor for Sports, Rosmen Quevedo, highlighted that sports clubs and entities "develop an enormous social work"

The Department of Sports of Arrecife has started this Friday, December 10, the payment of competitive concurrence subsidies "destined to schools and sports entities of the capital of the island, which amounts to 450,000 euros".

In this sense, the mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, explained that "this is great news for municipal sports because they will be able to continue the great social work they have been developing".

In this regard, the Councilor for Sports, Rosmen Quevedo, has expressed his satisfaction for the payment of aid that "will contribute to alleviate the economy of sports entities in the municipality." 

"We are aware of the sporting potential we have in Arrecife and the high number of clubs and athletes who organize and compete in numerous events in our city, so we will always continue to support them as much as possible, because we undoubtedly have a debt of gratitude for the great work they do throughout the year," said Rosmen Quevedo.

Specifically, from the City Council they detail that the grants awarded are divided "into two axes", the first of which refers "to the promotion, promotion and organization of grassroots sports, including the pre-benjamín and cadet categories, with an economic allocation amounting to 250,000 euros."

The second axis of aid is aimed at "supporting the social work carried out by sports entities with activity in the youth and senior categories, with an economic allocation of 200,000 euros."

The head of the area has also announced that, as soon as possible, the Department of Sports will proceed "to the payment of the nominated subsidies aimed at the organization of sporting events."
