The Department of Social Welfare of the Arrecife City Council, led by Maite Corujo, has organized the Training Days Caring for you, which will take place on February 13 and March 13 at the Citizen Participation Center 'El Zaguán', in Argana Alta.

These conferences are aimed at the staff of the municipal home help service, caregivers and all those interested in improving their knowledge about the care of elderly people in situations of dependency.

This training program aims to provide attendees with essential tools and knowledge to improve the quality of life of the elderly and strengthen the support and care network in the municipality. "Our commitment is to ensure that the elderly receive the best possible care, and for this, the continuous training of those in charge is essential. Caring for those who cared for us is a responsibility of the whole society", said councilor Maite Corujo.

The program of these conferences includes presentations by specialists in geriatrics, psychology, speech therapy and physiotherapy, who will address fundamental issues such as the comprehensive assessment of the elderly, emotional support, detection and prevention of abuse, mobilization of people with reduced mobility, and palliative care. In addition, specific aspects such as eating disorders and urinary incontinence will be addressed in order to provide a comprehensive approach to elderly care.

These training sessions are part of the Protocol for prevention, detection and intervention in situations of mistreatment of the elderly in the municipality of Arrecife, presented last November; a protocol that reinforces action in situations of vulnerability of the elderly through early detection and the implementation of preventive measures.

"It is essential that professionals and caregivers are prepared to detect signs of abuse and act effectively, ensuring the protection and well-being of our elders", emphasizes Corujo, who adds that "with this objective, we have signed an agreement with the Hospital Management for collaboration in training and actions in relation to the protocol".

The conferences, coordinated by Elisa Corujo, geriatrician at the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital, will feature the participation of specialists from said hospital and the Insular Hospital of Lanzarote, who will share their knowledge and experiences in geriatric care. Registration is free and can be done through the link.
