The Arrecife City Council has set itself the goal of providing the island's youth with a great free proposal for enjoying their leisure time. During a weekend between December 13, 14 and 15, during the Christmas period, the surroundings of the Arrecife Youth Center will be set in the famous film 'Star Wars' with proposals, so far different, for the youth of Arrecife.
The Mayoress of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, together with the Councilor for Youth and Citizen Participation, Elisabet Merino Betancort, the Councilor for New Technologies, Eduardo Placeres Reyes, and the director of the Juve Fest, the psychologist Daniel Moisés Pérez, announced this morning at a press conference the program of the Juve Fest, which will take place in the capital of Lanzarote between December 13 and 15.
For the first time in Lanzarote and the Canary Islands, a public institution is launching a festival aimed at young people, with free activities, thinking about the taste and new youth leisure, demanded by the new generations of Canarian teenagers and young people.
Astrid Pérez stressed that this commitment of the Government group enters into the reactivation of the Youth Center as the epicenter of all the youth dynamization that is being launched, and congratulated in the course of the press conference "the good work of the Councilor Eli Merino and her Youth team that is giving a successful turn to the youth dynamization of Arrecife". The first mayor invited the youth of the island to enjoy these innovative proposals.
The Councilor Elisabeth Merino stressed that the Juven Fest (which is named after the name that young people give to the Youth Center, La Juve,) starts this 2019 with the idea of its annual celebration and that Arrecife and Lanzarote have a reference in good proposals for youth leisure. The Councilor stressed that the youth of now ask for very different activities than decades ago, where new technologies, applications and video games, and hobbies have much to contribute in the new youth leisure. In addition, "what years ago was being a geek, now becomes a trend. Therefore, from the Department of Youth of the City of Arrecife is in line to support the new demands of youth leisure that society presents us", said the mayor.
The director of the Juve Fest, the young psychologist Daniel Moisés, was pleased that the new Government group of Arrecife, through the Councilor of Youth, gave its approval to this idea and festival, in these magnitudes, which had its germ now about 3 years ago. Moisés stressed that this program is in line with what young people are asking for and demanding today. For his part, the Councilor for New Technologies, Eduardo Placeres, stressed that the Juve Gaming will have an area of almost 500 square meters, with about 60 computers and as many video consoles, so that attendees can develop their online activities for free. This space is located in the Plaza de la Paciencia, next to the Church of Titerroy and the Youth Center. Between these days, the surroundings of the Arrecife Sports Center will be closed to traffic where outdoor activities will take place, including concerts, performances, workshops, and parades with the atmosphere of the Star Wars movie.
Among the novelties, the presence of Camilo García and Fernando Cabrera, prominent dubbing actors in this Star Wars saga, who will offer some conferences at the Juve Fest.
The presence of the actors David Martel and Sandeo Mohan (with roles in these films) will bring the good atmosphere of Star Wars to the capital of Lanzarote. The press conference was held in the assembly hall of the Youth Center of Arrecife, with the atmosphere of Star Wars. The Councilor for Youth of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Paula Corujo, was present among the attendees to the presentation of the program of the Juve Fest, the first initiative of these characteristics that is formulated in the Canary Islands for youth, stressed the institutional representatives at the press conference.
