The Department of Tourism of the Arrecife City Council has invited all
the young people of the capital municipality to participate this Saturday, July 3,
starting at 12 noon, in the official presentation of the
photography and video contest "Objetivo Arrecife 2020", which will take place at the
Biosfera Terrace.
In this way, the starting signal will be given to an initiative with
which aims to show the rest of the world the places of interest in the
city, through the main social networks (Facebook, Tuenti or
Twitter) that will serve as support for those photos and videos of Arrecife, and
that will be valued by the millions of Internet users who daily
use those websites.
This has been stated by the Councilor for Tourism of the Arrecife City Council
of the capital, Ángela Hernández, who pointed out that the objective of the
contest is none other than to encourage public participation in this
space whose purpose is "to promote the city of Arrecife, to make evident the
relationship of science with daily life and show the places of
tourist interest of the city". "It is about increasing interest in
Arrecife by involving all citizens," she added.
Hernández also stated, during her recent appearance before the press, that the best photographs and videos that have been uploaded to the website www.objetivoarrecife.com, from June 19 to August 31, 2010, will be awarded, "photographs and videos that will be selected for the tourist promotion of the city".
Original photographs and videos
People of all ages and
any nationality can participate in the contest. Each contestant can upload a maximum of 3 photographs and 3 videos to the page www.objetivoarrecife.com, where the title of the photograph or video, place and date where it was taken, name and surname of the author, address, telephone and e-mail are clearly indicated.
According to Ángela Hernández, they must be original and unpublished photographs and videos that have not been previously entered in any other contest of similar characteristics. Likewise, works taken with a mobile phone will be accepted, but the use of photomontages or digitally retouched photographs is not allowed, although photographs with touch-ups of brightness, tone or contrast will be accepted.
The photographs and videos submitted to the contest must focus their
theme on the tourist promotion of the city of Arrecife, especially valuing
"those photographs and videos that provide personal visions of the indicated theme over other merely documentary images, as well as those that provide original and unique aspects".
As will be recalled, the official presentation of "Objetivo 2020" was scheduled for Saturday, June 19, but was postponed due to the death of the Nobel Prize for Literature and Adopted Son of Lanzarote, the Portuguese writer José Saramago de Souza, and the three days of official mourning decreed by the Mayor of Arrecife, Cándido Reguera.
