The Arrecife City Council established the Municipal Council of Cultural Heritage of Arrecife last Friday, which will be chaired by the Councilor of the Technical Office, Urban Planning and Urban Discipline of the Arrecife City Council, Maciot Cabrera.
The session, held electronically, was attended by representatives of the University of Las Palmas, CICOP, Lanzarote Bar Association, Association of Architects and the Cabildo, as members of the Council.
After the formation of the new Municipal Corporation, and the constitution of the Government Group, the mayor and the Councilor for Urban Planning have held different working meetings with the professional guilds that intervene in the rehabilitation of heritage, and that have made possible the constitution of the aforementioned body.
The mayor has highlighted that with "the launch of this Council many projects, private and public, will be promoted for the recovery of buildings with heritage value".
For his part, Cabrera pointed out that "this is a very important body that will have to resolve issues that have to do with the architectural and cultural heritage of Arrecife.
As agreed in this first session, on December 11 there will be a new session, of an ordinary nature, on whose agenda three important issues for the city will be discussed: The project for the restoration of facades, accessibility and various in the building of the Insular Directorate of Lanzarote, an amendment to the basic and execution project for the restoration and conservation of the building located at 5 Fajardo Street and the project for the paving of the esplanade of the Castillo de San José.
