The advisor in the Mixed Group, Armando Santana, urges the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote to "accelerate the process for the approval of this ordinance, which should be treated with the highest priority".
Santana has made an urgent call today to the Cabildo of Lanzarote to approve, without further delay, an Insular Regulatory Ordinance that regulates the circulation of quads, buggies, trial bikes, enduro, cross bikes and vehicles of similar nature on the island.
Santana points out that, "although work is being done on the Insular Planning Plan, Lanzarote cannot wait any longer in the face of the continuous destruction of its territory caused by business practices that exploit the island's natural resources in an unsustainable and selfish way".
"Lanzarote is being the victim of an invasion of motorized off-road vehicles that are disfiguring our landscapes, damaging our natural environment and compromising the safety of our neighbors and tourists," he says.
"This situation is unsustainable and we cannot allow the island to continue to be used as a field of exploitation for companies that, for their own economic benefit, do business with a type of tourism completely incompatible with the essence of our island, its tranquility and its respect for nature," declares Armando Santana.
"The Cabildo of Lanzarote must take immediate measures to stop the destruction of the territory, without waiting for the approval of the Insular Planning Plan. The lack of regulation in the circulation of motorized off-road vehicles is causing erosion of the landscape, noise pollution and damage to the ecosystems, while companies continue to operate without control," he explains.
Santana emphasizes that "the defense of the territory is fundamental for any nationalist party, both to preserve the cultural identity and to protect the natural and environmental resources of Lanzarote." The advisor also emphasizes that "the regulation is essential to balance recreational activities with the protection of the environment in Lanzarote".
He proposes measures such as delimited areas, safety regulations, emission limits and noise control, and clear and severe sanctions. Santana assures that "Lanzarote must remain a model of sustainability and responsible tourism, where the action of the Cabildo must be urgent to avoid irreparable damage," he concludes.
