Canarian Nationalist Alternative (ANC) has criticized the Minister of Tourism, José Manuel Soria, for staying in a hotel in Lanzarote "considered illegal." "The Volcán de Lanzarote hotel, in the municipality of Yaiza, does not have an opening license because it does not comply with the Island Planning Plan. Furthermore, it was considered illegal by a final judgment of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands," this formation recalled.
The minister stated last year in Congress that he "did not usually ask for documentation of the places where he stayed," but ANC does not understand why this year he "repeats" vacations in the same place.
For ANC it is "contradictory" that on the same day that the Cabildo of Lanzarote makes public that "Repsol recognizes the risk of oil slicks reaching the coasts of the archipelago," the Minister of Industry and Tourism "uses illegal facilities on the island." From this formation they assure that Minister Soria is "a harmful being for the Canary Islands" and deserves "at least, the consideration of persona non grata." "This declaration by the island councils would be more than justified," he said in a statement.
Last Friday, a group of people gathered in front of this hotel in Playa Blanca, where Soria and his family were staying, to demand the paralysis of the oil exploration project in the Canary Islands. "This has only just begun, because neither the Canary Islands, nor anyone is going to allow Soria's insults and aggressions," ANC stated.
