The PSOE of Arrecife criticizes the "electoral fraud" to which the Popular Party submits the citizens of the capital after the resignation of Astrid Pérez as mayor, once her appointment as president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands has been confirmed.
"Barely a month after the elections of May 28 - in which the socialist party headed by Alfredo Mendoza won the elections to the Arrecife City Council - we are witnessing a new episode of instability in the capital because the current mayor prefers the red carpet of parliament to the city of Arrecife," emphasizes socialist spokesman Alfredo Mendoza.
"It can only be described as 'fraud' to the citizens, since personal ambitions are put before Arrecife, which I do not share. It is incomprehensible that she asks her electorate for their vote and trust in her management, and at the first opportunity leaves those who bet on her orphaned."
"For Pérez, Arrecife has been her second choice, subordinating the honor of being mayor of Arrecife to the fine print of an agreement between CC and PP that was ratified in the last plenary session of the City Council. At that time, we described it as a fictional plenary session since we knew what was going to happen, the person who had decided not to be mayor was proclaimed mayor," says Mendoza.
Finally, from the socialist ranks it is stated that "in no case, as we conveyed to the residents of the capital, will we put the interests of the municipality before positions or partisan 'deals', because for us Arrecife is the priority, we said so and it will be so," says Alfredo Mendoza.
