Aena estimates that in five months it will award the tower control service for the airports of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and La Palma, after eight of the ten companies submitted to the tender for the liberalization of this service have passed the first phase of the tender. These are Saerco, Agrupación Navsa-LFV, Tower Traffic Services, Ferronats Air Traffic Services, Zenit Air Traffic Control, Etracontrol, Agrupación Sacyr Concesiones/NAV Portugal and, Air traffic control and navigation services.

The companies Geci Española and Letové Prevádzkové Sluzby Slovenskej Republiky do not pass to the second phase, since they have not accredited the required technical solvency.

The tender for the liberalization of this tower control service has been divided into three lots. The first, with the airports of Alicante, Valencia, Ibiza and Sabadell. The second, with those of Seville, Jerez, Vigo, A Coruña, Melilla and Cuatro Vientos, and the third, in which are the aerodromes of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and La Palma.

In the coming days, Aena will deliver to the selected companies the specifications with the technical and economic conditions of service provision so that they can submit their offers within approximately ten weeks.

In the second phase, these companies must prove that they are certified, according to the requirements established in the European Regulations and that have been included in the Royal Decree regulating the certification procedure for civil air navigation service providers, approved on July 23.

With all the candidates that pass the second phase that begins now, the negotiation rounds will begin, prior to the final selection process.
