The Cabildo of Lanzarote reopened the access road to the town of La Caleta, in Famara, this Friday after the completion of the resurfacing and integral road surface improvement works, an action long awaited by residents after more than 40 years without an intervention of this magnitude.
The work has been financed by the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), managed by the Planning and Project Coordination department, headed by Vice President María Jesús Tovar.
The Minister of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, stated that "with the opening of this road, we are fulfilling a commitment to La Caleta and Famara, improving a fundamental road that was significantly deteriorated. We continue to advance within the Plan for the Improvement and Maintenance of Insular Roads, acting where it is most needed and with visible results".
Medina also emphasized that this action "not only improves driving comfort, but also notably increases the safety of a road widely used by both residents and visitors to this area of the island."For his part, the Councilor for Public Works of the Teguise City Council, Eugenio Robayna, highlighted the institutional collaboration and thanked the execution of the work, stating that "this road was a historic demand from the people of La Caleta. Today the residents have a dignified and safe access, the result of the joint work between the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Teguise City Council."Robayna added that "we are aware of the inconvenience that may have been generated during the works, but it was a necessary action and the final result fully justifies the effort made".
The Cabildo of Lanzarote thanks residents and users for their understanding during the development of the works, as well as the work of the technical teams and operators who have made the reopening of this strategic road for the municipality of Teguise possible.
