Citizen Alternative (AC) has been "surprised" by the "disconcerting fondness" of the members of the Arrecife government group when it comes to "renovating the capital's vehicle fleet." "They choose to buy second-hand cars, instead of new ones, when curiously in the needs report, prepared to justify the purchase of vehicles for the City Council, it is established that the main reason is the age of different vehicles of the Corporation," AC said in a statement.
AC has stated that "recently", the heads of Youth, Tourism and Roads and Works, that is, Jacobo Lemes, Rafael Juan González and José Montelongo, respectively, "have bought four cars for the development of the work of the municipal workers." "These vehicles have cost the municipal coffers 45,000 euros," this formation has criticised.
For AC, the "most unusual" thing about these purchases is the case of Jacobo Lemes, whose area acquires the "most expensive car of the three offered and justifies it because this company's corporate purpose is the retail trade of land vehicles." "And what do the other companies do?" asks this party, which recalls that in October, Lemes already acquired "another car, also second-hand, from the same company."
AC wants the vehicles used by municipal workers to be "in perfect driving condition" and have "rigorous safety control." "What we totally disagree with is that in order to renovate the municipal vehicle fleet, due to its age, we have to resort to second-hand offers," he criticised.
Therefore, he believes that a plan should be considered to renovate the municipal vehicle fleet as a whole "and not by isolated departments." AC is committed to carrying out this award through a public tender, "with the best economic offer and using different means of financing, such as renting or leasing." And this party does not understand that the government group acquires second-hand cars "and with an age of more than 3 years."
