About thirty lawyers divided into three candidacies will compete in the elections for dean

Three candidates will run in the elections to become the dean of the Lanzarote Bar Association. Carlos Viña Romero, Anabel de León Pérez and José Carlos Rojas Martín have already prepared the list of members who will accompany them to these elections, which will be held on December 20. Francisco Torres Stinga already announced that he would not run again, after nine years in this position.

One of the lists is headed by Anabel de León and followed by Raquel Socas, who will run for vice-dean. This same list also includes the name of José Pablo Lemes as secretary; Francisco González Cordón as treasurer; J. Aitor Galán as librarian-accountant; Irán J. de León as second deputy; Carmen García García as third deputy; David Vidal Martínez as fourth deputy; Sarai González Meyer as fifth deputy and Madgalena Nieto as sixth deputy.

José Carlos Rojas, who will also run for dean of the Lanzarote Bar Association, will be accompanied on the list by Gustavo Falero Lemes, as vice-dean and first deputy; Rosa García Hernández as secretary; Agustín Márquez Cabrera as treasurer; Arielh Guadalupe Páez as librarian-accountant; Nieves Sánchez as third deputy and Santiago Ruiz Menéndez, Leticia Grimón Rodríguez, Teresa Borges Martín and Nora Ferrer Peñate complete the list.

A list that may not be definitive

The last candidacy is held by Carlos Viña, although in this case the list that accompanies him may not be definitive, since it is pending an appeal against the objections that had been made to one of the lawyers who are part of the list. The current management of the Lanzarote Bar Association has preferred not to make statements on this matter.

The list presented by Viña has Ignacio Herrero Ortiz as vice-dean and first deputy; Elena López Rodríguez as secretary; Mónica López de Baró Martínez as treasurer; Gervasio Martín Acosta as librarian accountant; and Cristina Duque Ramírez completes the list as second deputy; Mar de Astica Nadal as third deputy; Nieves Hernández Fontes as fourth deputy; José María Torres Rodríguez as fifth deputy and Alexandra Rodríguez as sixth deputy.

The elections will be held at the headquarters of the Lanzarote Bar Association, on December 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Lawyers "practicing and non-practicing" who are registered with the Bar Association can vote in these elections. However, according to what they have explained from the Association, "the vote of the practicing lawyers is worth twice as much as that of the non-practicing lawyers".

The new dean will take office in January.
