Around 80 students from various modules of the IES Zonzamas have not yet been able to begin their studies due to the lack of teaching staff, who have not yet been appointed by the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands. Last Thursday, the 13th, the presentation of the modules of this center took place and during it the students of the semi-attendance courses of the first year of Pharmacy and Parapharmacy and of Technician in Sanitary Emergencies were informed that they could not begin because professors have not yet been assigned.
These students should have started their studies that same day 13 and as of this Tuesday, September 25, they have not yet been able to attend any class. From the Canarian Executive they have assured La Voz that the appointments of professors "have not yet finished" and will be assigned during this month of September and "the first days" of October. Thus, they have insisted that these courses "will be carried out", but throughout these next days "the templates will be closed".
For his part, the director of the IES Zonzamas, Isaac Molina, who maintains contact with the Ministry of Education, has assured that from this area they have commented that "they would try to start with the appointments of the professors this same week". "It is the last thing we know. If everything goes well and what they tell me is fulfilled, next week maybe the courses could already begin", he indicated.
In addition, the problem of the lack of teaching staff to teach these modules does not only occur in Lanzarote, but "also in the rest of the islands". "Lanzarote is not an isolated case. All the centers have the same problem with these newly implemented courses", Molina stated.
The director of the IES Zonzamas has trusted that these courses, in which 80 students are enrolled, can begin now. The days that have been lost are not yet known how they can be recovered. "We would have to adjust the schedules or try to extend the calendar, although I see this last one as more complicated", he stated.
