About 70 families from Arrecife acquire the ownership of the social housing they inhabit today. The apartments to be deeded correspond to the Tite Roy, José Antonio, Los Geranios, Juan Sarazá Ortiz, Tinasoria and Los Pitufos groups. Depending on the date the houses were handed over, the method of acquisition changes. In the case of the houses from 1957, it will be done through the so-called deferred access to ownership, while those corresponding to 1987 will be done through the decree issued in 1995 by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands to facilitate their purchase, under very favorable conditions, by their awardees.
A much lower cost
Families who take advantage of the benefits of the decree will only have to pay 50% of the initial price of the apartments. This represents a much lower cost than they would have today, since the price at the time they were handed over has been taken as a reference. In addition, the monthly payments that have been paid so far as rent will be deducted from the amount that each awardee has to pay. The amount remaining until its total amortization may be paid in up to 25 years.
Signature
The director of the Canarian Housing Institute, Jerónimo Fregel, will travel to the Island to participate in the signing of the purchase and sale deeds of these homes. The event will be held in the plenary hall of the City Council of the capital from half past twelve in the morning.
With this signing of deeds, the Ministry of Infrastructure takes a further step in the ambitious process undertaken in 1995 to transfer ownership of public housing to more than 20,000 families residing in the islands.
