The Culture Councilor of the Arrecife City Council, Abigail González, has announced that, from the area she directs in the capital's municipal council, she has already begun the process for the reconversion of the assembly hall of the Civic Center in order to allocate it to the construction of a theater hall "that would solve a historical demand of cultural groups not only from Arrecife but from the rest of the island", reports CC.
With this project, Abigail González explained, "we want to respond to the demand to provide the city with a venue that brings together the various events and cultural celebrations that take place in the city throughout the year", and that have been "becoming apparent over the last few years with the increase in projects presented and designed by the municipal culture service".
It is obvious - González indicated - that "in the last eighteen months in which we have had the responsibility of managing culture in Arrecife, we have considerably increased the cultural offer." However, this has meant that "old problems come to light, such as the lack of the necessary infrastructure to respond to the important demand that has been generated," she adds.
"This situation has been aggravated even more by the resignation of many promoters of events presented to be held in the municipality of Arrecife, due to the existing deficit of cultural infrastructures of this format in the city and due to the technical conditions in which the various cultural events have to be developed," she says.
"The new municipal theater hall will be an impulse for the cultural development of the capital and Lanzarote"
For this reason, the councilor explained that "running in the electoral list of Coalición Canaria to Arrecife, the new municipal theater hall will be an impulse for the cultural development of the capital and Lanzarote" and has highlighted that it is a "very exciting and necessary" project that will be carried out in this next legislature.
As has been said previously, "the theater hall will be located in the Civic Center, a space that currently has an assembly hall that will be reconverted to adapt it to the technical and scenic needs required by a venue of these characteristics with the different elements for stage machinery, scenic machinery, stalls etc., as well as auxiliary lighting and sound services," concludes the councilor.
In this way, the theater hall will have modern and functional equipment that will allow it to host all kinds of cultural shows, from theater, dance and music, to conferences, presentations or exhibitions. González has stated that it is "a project much demanded by cultural groups and by the citizens in general".
Therefore, Abigail González has expressed her satisfaction for being able to announce this "long-awaited and necessary" project that will mean "a before and after" for culture in Arrecife. The councilor has assured that it is "a firm and determined commitment" to provide the city with a cultural facility "of the highest level" that contributes to improving the quality of life of the residents and to enhance the tourist and cultural attraction of the capital.
