The Federation of Public Service Workers (FTPS) denounces that the Advanced Support Unit (USA) of Lanzarote operated for five hours without its Health Emergency Technician (TES), who was transferred to another base to cover the absence of a colleague. This situation, which is repeated and known by the authorities, puts urgent care for the population at risk.
According to the FTPS, both the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) and the Management of Services for Health and Safety in the Canary Islands (GSC) are aware that the awarded company, Ute Lanzafueracciona Icot, is breaching the contract specifications. "Even the GSC participates in this breach by drafting regulations that allow these irregularities," the Federation denounces.
Common practice with serious consequences
The FTPS has warned on multiple occasions that the transfer of personnel between bases, leaving units unattended, is a recurring practice. "Far from solving it, they prioritize economic savings over the life and health of people," they point out from the organization.
"It is unacceptable to play with public health in this way. We demand that the endowments have the human and material resources necessary to guarantee effective care for citizens," declare the FTPS spokespersons in Lanzarote.
The Federation announces that it will continue to denounce these irregularities and pressure institutions to fulfill their obligations, preventing the emergency service from being diminished by negligent administrative decisions.
