A group of 55 hikers from Arrecife discovered the island of Alegranza last Sunday, thanks to a visit organized by the Department of Youth and Environment of the capital's Consistory. According to reports from the City Council, "the participants in this initiative, who were enthusiastic about the trip and the walk to the Alegranza caldera, guided by one of the owners of the islet, Enrique Jordán, encouraged the mayor of Arrecife, Cándido Reguera, and the councilor of the area, Joel Delgado, to repeat this type of activities more often".
The group of hikers arrived at the Islet aboard a catamaran from the company Biosfera Express to practice hiking and learn about the main natural attractions of Alegranza. In this way, the avid explorers entered the interior of the Island to overcome its intricacies and reach the Alegranza caldera, and thus enjoy a unique and unrepeatable image of a volcanic landscape that many of the participants immortalized in their cameras.
The journey took place along a path, at times complicated and hard,
for more than 45 minutes, in which you could contemplate the beauty of an almost virgin island. The day also included the possibility of staying in one of the existing coves on the Island, which some took the opportunity to take a bath, as well as the possibility of staying on the boat and practicing snorkel.
Many young people, adults, and entire families with small children, prepared with trecking clothing, enjoyed a unique day, which on occasion turned into an adventure due to the state of the sea, which made the journey on the catamaran from La Graciosa to Alegranza difficult.
