It was 11 in the morning when, in a house next to the newsroom of La Voz de Lanzarote, the National Police requested to search the house and the entire building where the facilities of the media and Lanzarote Televisión are located. And the Secretary General of the Canary Islands Socialist Party and former Minister of Justice, Juan Fernando López Aguilar, was about to arrive, after being evicted from a shopping center in Playa Honda due to a bomb threat.
López Aguilar arrived on the island this Saturday for the presentation of the candidates for the upcoming general elections. During the morning, while he was doing an interview on a local television located in Deiland, the Civil Guard of San Bartolomé received an alert from an anonymous person. The call warned about a "suspicious" bag that had been found on one of the floors of the center. Finally, it was a false alarm and according to the Insular Director of the General State Administration in Lanzarote, Carmelo García Déniz, everything has remained a "joke".
The head of the list to the Congress of Deputies, Juan Fernando López Aguilar, was evacuated to the National Police Station in Arrecife. Once the situation was under control, he moved to Lanzarote Televisión to participate in Alberto Acosta's program, El Tercer Grado, although previously the Police officers searched the entire area, and then did the same with the surroundings of the Biosphere Terrace, where López Aguilar was going to participate together with the Lanzarote socialists in an act of presentation of candidates for the next elections.
Carmelo García Déniz assures that it has not been necessary to evacuate people from the shopping center and that the situation is "normalized".
