The president of the PP of Lanzarote, Astrid Pérez, has denounced this Monday that the execution of the item of the budget of the Government of the Canary Islands destined to the investment in Lanzarote in 2014 has been fulfilled in 60% and has expressed her fear that "the remaining 40% will probably have to be returned and, therefore, will be lost."
Pérez has launched this warning in a press conference convened to talk about the budgets of the regional Executive for next year, which in her opinion are again "clearly deficient, illusory and unreal" for Lanzarote. The island president has appeared accompanied by the general secretary of the PP of the Canary Islands, Asier Antona, who has assured that the regional budget for 2015 is "neutral, decaffeinated, light and does not present any type of ambition".
That budget, in its investment chapter, grants Lanzarote 36 million euros. In this sense, the PP emphasizes that this item "has fallen by 27%" since the 2012 budgets. The formation criticizes that the island "only receives 12.6% of the investments and transfers", despite the fact that it is "the third most populated island in the archipelago".
In addition, Pérez has questioned the unequal treatment suffered by the municipalities of Lanzarote depending on the party that governs them. "It is clear that the Government of the Canary Islands discriminates against those municipalities that are not governed by the parties that make up the Canarian government, that is, CC-PSOE", the parliamentarian has criticized. As an example, she has assured that in the municipality of Tías, governed by the PP, only 50,000 euros are invested, while in Teguise "the investment amounts to 980,000 euros".
"We see how in the municipality of Tías, the third in Lanzarote with the most residents, with the largest floating population and the first tourist destination on the island, practically the same amount is invested as in the municipality of Haría", she has finished.
For his part, Antona has criticized that the new IRPF reform "marginalizes 34% of the island's population" and has warned the Government that "it is necessary to carry out a fiscal reform that benefits all" of its inhabitants.
More money for agriculture, health and housing
Astrid Pérez has criticized the Government for not having "any item of aid to the agricultural sector and more specifically for the farmers affected by the storm of 2010".
The president of the PP on the island has also expressed her demands for health. In this sense, she has recalled that the Island Hospital, which is co-financed by the State Government, the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Lanzarote, "has the same budget as last year, despite the commitment acquired by the PSOE to integrate the center into the Canarian Health Service". The popular deputy has also stated that the 400,000 euros destined to the reform of two health centers constitute "a ridiculous amount, as some socialist leaders have also recognized".
Regarding housing, Pérez has referred to the commitment of the regional Ministry of Housing to rehabilitate 40 homes in the neighborhoods of Valterra and Titerroy and has assured that this figure is "very far from the 166 planned".
The leader of the PP has also announced that she will demand that the 2015 budgets include "the financing for the retaining wall of the slopes of the Maneje neighborhood, as well as for the agricultural sector and for health" and has stressed that the situation of these matters on the island "is very serious".
