The Civil Guard has intercepted a boat on the high seas 50 miles from the coast. There were 31 immigrants of Maghreb origin on board the boat, all of them adults and in good health. These have been transferred directly by the Maritime Rescue teams to Puerto Naos, although this time they have not towed the boat because it was in poor condition.
These 31 immigrants are in addition to those who arrived on the coasts of Lanzarote during the past weekend, since during Sunday, November 5, four boats reached the island. One of them, which arrived between Playa Quemada and Puerto Calero, was spotted by security forces on the high seas and its occupants, 25 African men, including three minors, were arrested upon arrival at the beach, as they were being awaited by agents of the Local Police of Yaiza and the Civil Guard.
The other three boats were found in different parts of the municipality of Haría. Only fifteen occupants of one of them were arrested, while the crew members of the other two managed to escape under cover of darkness.
