Words overflowing with the purest Canarian flavor

The first work that saw the light of this trilogy was the first dictionary of Canarian Expressions. With a total of 17,500 words, it was presented to society on January 21, 2006. A year later, on April 28, 2007, came the second dictionary of Canarian Proverbs, with a total of 9,000 articles, while last Saturday, August 2, the long-awaited dictionary of Canarian Words was released, with a total of 26,900 words. Thus, the work has a rich cultural content so that new generations can consult the ways our elders had of calling things or expressing themselves.

Supported by his people

The official chronicler of Haría, Gregorio Barreto, was very well accompanied since the hall of the La Tegala society was filled with friends and neighbors who wanted to support him with their presence on such an important day for him.

At the presidential table, Valentín Elvira, president of Aderlan, sat next to him; Juan Madina Sanabria, author of the prologue to this dictionary; Mario Pérez, representing the Government of the Canary Islands, and the mayor of Haría, José Torres Stinga. They all praised the author's work, encouraging him to continue. Afterwards it was Gregorio Barreto's turn, who explained the entire process of the work he was presenting. The book is on sale in the island's bookstores in a limited edition.
